I have talked to many of you over the last few months and am doing my best to understand your concerns. Many members have expressed concern over how money was spent by previous Boards. I don't think it is helpful to spread misinformation and since I don't know the details of exactly how money was spent in the past, I am not going to speculate. Your current Board has recently gone through the books and cut every unnecessary expense. My top priority while I hold this position is to be transparent with you and set a structure in place so that whoever takes over after this Board will be held to this same standard of accountability. We have recruited for the constitution committee and will be meeting to update bylaws. My goal moving forward is to have the financial statement that was recently posted to the blog be posted annually and for provisions to be put in place to show that the money being spent is accounted for. I appreciate that you have supported me in this role as your Union President and I hope we can continue to ensure a financially stable Union that will continue to benefit each and every one of us for many years to come.
