van Houte for MCCDA Executive Vice President

Greetings!

With Deputy Fisher stepping down and vacating the executive vice president position, I once again humbly ask for your support and vote as I seek to be elected to the MCCDA executive vice president position. Before I outline why I believe I would continue to serve you well in this position, I want to thank you for your support as I have been filling in during Deputy Fisher’s absence. I also want to thank the entire MCCDA e-board for all their work. The amount of time and effort the entire team must put in to represent us as a membership is staggering when you take in the entire scope of what is involved.

I believe I am the best candidate for this position because of my training, background, and experience here at MCSO and within MCCDA. I currently work at MCDC E shift, and I have been assigned there since I left the Training Unit in January of 2021. I have a proven track record of being available regardless of the time or location, and no matter what shift or location I am assigned to. I am committed to being available to you in the moment as we navigate through the many difficulties we are facing.

In preparation for this position, before filling in during Deputy Fisher’s absence, I served on the constitution committee as well as the contract team. Over my career, I have served as a union steward, hostage negotiator, training sergeant, and subject matter expert. I believe all my training and experience will serve the membership in the role of Executive VP. Most notably, I have been filling in as the Executive VP for the last couple of months. I’m asking to be elected into this position with my eyes wide open and understanding the incredible demands of the position.
