Members,
The county emailed me and let me know there is a change coming for MODA plans starting 1/2025. Our lawyers reviewed it and met with the County benefits manager and clarified that the plan change won't result in any changes to the core prescription benefits. While there may be some changes to prescription prices, overall members should see reduced prices. With the change, CVS won't be in-network for prescriptions any longer, but there are still a large variety of other options like Rite Aid, Walgreens, Kroger, etc. Our lawyers didn't see anything our members should be concerned about but wanted to let you know this is coming next year. You should start seeing emails in your County email and wanted you to be aware our lawyers have been made aware and we don't see issues. If you're concerned and want to provide input please reach out to a Board member. Below is the information I received from the County.
Earlier this year the County initiated an evaluation of our prescription drug benefits within our MODA benefit plans, which are currently administered by our Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) vendor, Welldyne. This evaluation was prompted by the helpful feedback we received from employees and their families concerning service-related concerns. Taking this valuable input into consideration, the County undertook a thorough and comprehensive selection process for a new PBM.
After thoughtful consideration of the County’s requirements and employee needs a thorough analysis of all submissions, the scoring panel reached a unanimous decision to award the contract to ArrayRX, a subsidiary of Moda.
Some of the key factors when selecting ArrayRx as the vendor partner include:
● Established relationships with County Benefits Team (expedient resolution to member issues)
● Integrated pharmacy and medical claims data
● Competitive pricing
● Best industry performance standards
● Robust pharmacy network
● Minimal disruption Page 2 of 2
● Experience with County culture
● Same time zone for customer/member issues
● Local presence for mail order and specialty medication
In the coming months our Benefits team will prioritize communicating this change to employees, with the new PBM effective on 1/1/25. Currently in the initial stages of this transition, the Benefits team will provide regular updates to our EBAT and to eligible County employees as we progress through the implementation. Recognizing the significance of this change, we understand that you may have many questions.
