Labor Management Meeting notes

MCCDA Topics

· MOTs

o Post Factor study requested – Chief claims that the county commissioners will balk, but they are open to it. Comes down to cost. They seem reluctant to join our request.

o Still no word on double time, MCCDA will follow up with commissioners.

o Gave idea of getting Comp day after a set amount of MOT’s (would not count towards your comp bank).

· Hiring/Retention

o Approximately 18 coming online by mid July. (12 from academy, 6 coming off FTEP)

o Pushing to continue using deputies and other staff for recruitment events due to the success we’ve seen. More events are planned through June and July. Looking at county and state fairs.

· Filling SGT vacancies for OIC spots

o Needs to be a bigger discussion – separate – due to multiple factors. Will notify the membership when further developments come up.

· IA Timelines

o Requested updates on IA’s to ensure that command is following the timelines. Union wants to make sure IA’s aren’t just sitting idle and members getting held “accountable” for something that is going to be dismissed or should be on a time to be removed.

· DA Office/Assault Checklist

o Pushed for the Assault checklist to be rolled out, special order coming out this week. Will help handle staff assaults and ensure that inmates are being held accountable. LT’s, Sgt’s, and A/Sgt’s need to be aware of the checklist and make sure they are filling it out after a staff assault.

o Also, MCCDA is pushing for LE accountability when charges are getting dropped due to LE Detectives not taking cases seriously.

· IJ – SWUD/Escort/OIC Positions

o Command is going to make a pitch for the SWUD spot at IJ to be a fully funded

· Sgt Promotions

o Next few months will see a few promotions

o Close Street and FTEP Sgt spots will be coming, Work Crew spots are in place until the end of the year. Human Trafficking Sgt spot will be ended.

· Retire/Rehire

o 4 in process – looking at a mid July spot.

o Language proposal for on call hiring process is with Command – will be sent out to membership once approved.

o Ensured that no On-Call will bump deputies from their assigned spots

Management Topics

· Contracts should be printed within the next three weeks. Will be delivered to the facilities by the end of July at the latest.

· New command structure. Reardon now in charge of corrections. Alexander going to auxiliary.
