Executive VP

Members,

This topic was covered during our quarterly meeting and briefly recapped in notes but I wanted to make sure members are informed when things change on your Board. Fisher has been out for awhile and we don't have an exact date when he can return. I have been in contact with Fisher and he was okay with having someone fill in while he is out. The Board voted and approved Van Houte to temporarily take the role of the Executive VP until Fisher can return. Fisher will not be getting paid by the Union starting June and Van Houte will assist with various matters but will not be a voting member on Board. The Executive VP role is very important to the members. We have policy reviews, timelines that need to be kept, training for stewards that need to happen and a variety of other issues. Van Houte, as a steward, has helped the Board compile the spreadsheet from the financial information, assisted with the assault checklist and has been helping get dates to get training together for the stewards. I have appreciated all the time and effort he has put in to help the members and he also ran for the position. I want to be clear that when Fisher returns he will have his position back but with the potential of various battles ahead of us I want to make sure the work is getting done in his absence.
